Dear Fellow Diplomate,
As I have begun my term as President of American Academy of Water Resources Engineers for 2010, let me convey the Academy's commitment to exceptional Member services and support to you, our Founding Diplomates.
Since conception, AAWRE has made significant progress in forming collaborative working relationships and affiliations with other water advocacy and engineering support organizations. The strength of our growing numbers brings more quality and qualified water resources engineers to AAWRE. Your support has made a positive difference in the growth and progress of AAWRE and a difference in the future of the water resources engineering profession.
AAWRE has experienced rapid growth; we presently number over 500 Diplomates. This success is a direct reflection of your participation in the Academy by earning and maintaining your Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) credential. Your willingness to continue to participate as a Diplomate exemplifies your commitment to continued professional development and continuing education for all others to follow. Your commitment furthers AAWRE's mission of 'elevating the standards' in water resources engineering.
AAWRE is now in our 6th year of operations. On behalf of the AAWRE Board of Trustees and staff, I extend my personal gratitude to our outgoing Founding Trustees, Michael Ports and Jerry Rogers. Michael and Jerry were instrumental in the formation of AAWRE and made huge contributions in building the organization.
I also extend my thanks to our out-going President, Dan Boyd, who with his leadership and diligence, has taken our organization to another level and helped to raise that bar of excellence even higher. I welcome our new Trustees to the Board, Rao Surampalli and Paul Boulos, who bring their unique talents to help contribute to further AAWRE's mission and our goals for 2010.
It is exciting to look forward to the upcoming year and this opportunity to serve you and our profession in this new role. Thanks for being a Founding Diplomate of AAWRE.
Sincerely,
P. Kay Whitlock, P.E., D.WRE
President
American Academy of Water Resources Engineers
