ASCE President Herrmann Talks on Professional Certification

ASCE 2012 President Andrew Herrmann, P.E., SECB, F.ASCE in his June President’s Column talks about professional certification and has some words of advice and encouragement for younger engineers regarding attaining certification. Andy participated in the past AAWRE ceremony during the 2012 EWRI Congress in New Mexico and in his column, Mr. Herrmann states “Don’t think that specialty certification is only for those at the close of successful careers. Actually, it’s the opposite. Most civil engineers are qualified by the time they reach their mid-30s. Earning certification early in your career is indeed worthwhile, for the status you acquire will confer benefits over the course of your career.”
