Dr. Paul Boulos Honored with ASCE 2016 Parcel-Sverdrup Civil Engineering Management Award |
Innovyze President Dr. Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, Dist.M.ASCE, NAE, was selected among many distinguished candidates as the recipient of ASCE’s 2016 Parcel-Sverdruup Civil Engineering Management Award. The award will be presented during the Society’s Annual Convention in Portland, Oregon, from September 28 to October 1, 2016.
The John I. Parcel-Lief J. Sverdrup Civil Engineering Management Award is awarded annually to a leader in the world of civil engineering management. Dr. Boulos joins a select group of renowned past award recipients.
Of past recipients, Dr. Boulos remarked, “They truly exemplify our noble profession’s greatest values. Guided by their passion to create better communities, they have helped build the world’s infrastructure and made a shining difference in the lives of so many. This award reminds me why I do what I do. Knowing that I can help improve the lives of our clients and build a better world gives me enormous satisfaction.”
The selection committee recognized Dr. Boulos “for his business leadership, entrepreneurship and philanthropy, and his management expertise and innovation at MWH Global and Innovyze.”
Thomas W. Smith III, ENV SP, CAE, F.ASCE, ASCE Executive Director stated, “Dr. Boulos is not only a mentor to those around him but also a visionary working to transform the civil engineering profession. He’s a dedicated global leader who has revolutionized the water infrastructure field through creative thinking, worked tirelessly to advance ASCE and the civil engineering profession, and motivated and inspired countless others to strive for excellence in their work and achieve great things for the profession. He is truly deserving of this award.”
Robert D. Stevens, Ph.D., P.E., AICP, F.ASCE, ASCE 2016 Past-President and member of ASCE Board of Direction, also had exemplary remarks. “Dr. Boulos is an exceptional leader who founded Innovyze on the principal that engineering transforms lives- and he has built successfully on that principle. He understands that leadership is not about him and his ability to attract followers, but also serving others to bring out the best in them, maximize their well-being, and create vibrant, healthy communities for the greater good of humanity, the environment and society at large. He leads with purpose and passion, and that makes him especially deserving of this significant award.”
