Dear Fellow Diplomate,
As the out-going President of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers for 2009, I want to take this opportunity to thank all Diplomates for allowing me to serve as your AAWRE President.
When I took office last year, we were celebrating the end of our fourth year with over 400 Diplomates. Now, as we mark the completion of our fifth year of AAWRE, we have grown to an impressive 525 Diplomates, surpassing our goal of 500 Founding Diplomates.
This success is a direct reflection of your participation in the Academy by earning and maintaining your Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) credential. Your commitment to continued professional development and education is an example for all others to follow and further supports AAWRE's mission of "raising the bar" in water resource engineering.
Your incoming President is Ms. P. Kay Whitlock, P.E., D.WRE, of Christopher Burke Engineering. Ms. Whitlock has impeccable credentials; she is one of the founding members of AAWRE serving on the Board since its inception. She has also served as ASCE Illinois Section President.
Please welcome Kay as the new President and continue to show your support of AAWRE's goals by serving as an example for the next generation of water resources engineers in the following ways:
I sincerely thank you again for the opportunity to serve in this prestigious position and for your continued support of AAWRE and our mission.
Sincerely,

Daniel W. Boyd, P.E., D.WRE
Immediate Past-President
American Academy of Water Resources Engineers
